Good morning everyone!!!
So this past week was amazing! It was quite busy though to start off with. Elder Smith had a leadership training meeting on tuesday, we had district meeting on wednesday, Elder Smith was sick on friday, and on saturday we went to Walsall for a baptismal interview plus we had our baptism!
Yes, I got it right the first time! The baptism was amazing. The service went well and the spirit was so strong. It was blissful when I stepped into the water to baptise Nneka. It was kinda funny though because I was focusing on saying all the words right and everything and before I knew it Nneka was leaning back to go down into the water! So I had to make sure that I had my hand on her back securely so that I could bring her back out of the water. It all happened so quick, but I guess thats a plus! haha After the service, I asked Nneka how she felt and she answered clean and wet haha So it definitely counted! haha Elder Smith confirmed her a member of the Church of Jesus Chirst of Latter-day Saints on Sunday, which all went well. It has been such a blessing being able to teach Nneka and form that relationship with her that brought her to the waters of baptism and taking that first step on the path to exaltation. I can testify that the Lord is leading the work down here on this earth. By His hand were we able to teach Nneka. And by the restoration of the Priesthood was that baptism able to be recorded in Heaven.
We received another blessing this week. Two saturdays ago while we were trying by some people, I stopped this man on the street to talk to him. He told us about how his life was in a wreck at this moment and how he wants to put it back on track; the way to do that is through the Gospel of Jesus Christ which "healeth the wounded soul." We set up an appointment to see him the next day, but we weren't able to make that appointment. We went by this past monday and talked to him about his desires. He really wants to have God in his life and to start coming to church. We told him the time and location of the chapel and set up another time to see him. We saw him again on wednesday and boy was it a great lesson. The spirit was so strong as we explained what the gospel can help him with in his life and how he should go about it. We talked about baptism and he accpeted a date at the end of April!! That was the first of the blessings for that appointment. At the end, we taught him about prayer and how thats the first step and many he needs to take. He said his first prayer ever in his life with us that night. The spirit was so strong in that room that he began to cry. I can't put into words how sweet it was to have experienced this. Unfortuantly, he had to go to hospital this week and will be there for two weeks time. We will definitely be in contact with him though when he comes out.
Funny story for this week: we ran into this old guy who apparently has seen the prophet on the tv and also he has visited him in his living room. He was telling us how he has a book of life and its is written for this guy on how he will die. He was claiming that we (I dont know if he were referring to believers or mormons) will destroy him and everyone else on the planet haha I dont know what this guy was on about but he must have been on something! It was kinda freaky, but just plaion weird at the same time haha Needless to say, we didnt stay around him for too long haha
So for the spiritual thought this week, I want to refer to Alma 60:21,23 Moroni is complaining to Pahoran about the lack of provisions and pretty much rebuking the whole city of Zarahemla, but thats not what I want to talk about. I want to liken these scriptures to our time. Moroni is telling us that we shouldnt be idle and think that the Lord will save and preserve us. We have to do something about whats happening in the world. We have to do something to bring us out of any trial we are facing. We have to remember that if we are actively engaged in a good cause, that we will be delivered. I wrote a side not in my scriptures referring to James 2:17 -- "Faith without works is dead." -- We need to trust in the Lord that he will help us in our time of need. This is why the armies of Helaman were so victorious, they trusted in their God and had strong faith. I know that if we try to help ourselves and those around us that Heavenly Father will bless/help us, if we are not doubting. I know that this gospel is TRUE! The Book of Mormon is TRUE! I hope everyone is reading is daily because it will help you get through each day.
I hope everyone has a great week! Until next time...
