Top of the mornin!
So this past week was transfers. I'm staying in Wolverhampton and my new companion is Elder Clarke-Wills!! I've got another Londoner on my hands, haha except he's from North London. He is really chill and sarcastic, just the way I like it. My last companion, Elder Smith, was way too serious and just didnt know how to have fun slash have a laugh. I'm lucky now to have Elder Clarke-Wills because our sense of humor is pretty much the same, so this transfer will be a lot of fun! And I can already tell that we are going to have some great success as well!
Its been a crazy past couple of weeks. Just jammed packed with meetings and now just past transfers. Plus, it was conference weekend so things are moving pretty slowly right now. But with a new week comes a new opportunity to work hard and find the elect! One pretty cool experience that I've had happened on last tuesday. Elder Smith and I were doing some finding in the morning and came across this man that was walking on the street. We started talking to him and it turns out that he is the brother of another potential investigator that we received a while ago! This new man's name is Rick. He studies theology, so he has some pretty good knowledge of Christianity. He gave some good responses to when we talked about the Book of Mormon being translated once and the doctrine behind Joseph Smith's first vision. He agreed with us when we talked about how/why there are so many different churches. Oh, and also the fact of how its wrong to worship symbols like the cross or such things. Sad thing though is that we didn't get a return appointment, but we did get his phone number and address! So we will set up an appointment with him this week.
Another cool slash hilarious experience that Elder Clarke-Wills and I have had happened on thursday. There is this African lady that we tried talking to on the street who was sorta trying to blank us. Once we got her attention, she realise that we were missionaries and that she knew this one missionary that had served here a couple years ago. Well it turns out that Elder Clarke-Wills also knows this elder from back home. We asked to come visit her sometime and she gave us her address. The only bad part is that she has a heavy African accent, so we didnt fully understand where she lived. We tried to find a road that had a similar sound to it, but had no luck. We then remembered that she mentioned that she was going to pick up her child from school, so we decided to go and try to find her. Right about now yall should be getting the mental picture of two young guys dressed in black scoping our a primary school...well it was looking a little stalker-ish hahahahaha So instead of looking like creeps infront of the school, we decided to go around the corner and do a little tracting in hope that she would cross our path. She never did haha So we are going to try by this street that we think she might live in high hopes to find her.
Oh the joys of being a missionary...
I want to close my email this week by referring to a talk that was given Saturday at conference by Elder Russell M. Nelson. He taljked a bit about our life on earth and the trials we have to go through in order to get the most out of mortality. He talked about how this life is a probationary time, a test to see if we can stay righteous and receive all that our Father hath. He mentioned how we must trust in the Lord in order to persevere through tribulations. There is one really simple way we can show our trust, and thats through keeping ALL of the commandments. We are given commandments to receive blessings and we must keep all of them...beggars cant be choosers...One scripture I really like that goes alrong with this topic of trust is 2 Nephi 10:17. It states that God will fulfill ALL His promises. How great of a blessing we had been given that God will never fail us!!! We just need to have trust in this promise. "Your future is as bright as your faith."
I love this gospel soooo much. Its true!! It helps so many people get through the hardest of times, as well as the easiest of times. With over 14 million members worldwide, this prophesied restoration will never cease, until the great day of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. I hope everyone got as much out of conference as I did. It was brilliant! Love you all and good luck to everyone with their week. Always remember to enjoy life! :)
Ohhhh, quick shout out to my sis-in-law Kelly and my brother Justin...HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! to both of you. Love ya!
