Happy Easter

Happy late Easter everyone!!!

I hope everyone had a great Easter! And that they enjoyed the season of our Saviour's resurrection. I really enjoyed my Easter Sunday as I heard talks on the Atonement and all the blessings and gifts we receive from that event. I noticed a difference in the people that I talked to the past week, which was really cool. More people stopped to see what we had to talk about. Plus, it was nice to use the approach relating to Easter to get people to listen haha What was even better is that a lot of less-active members came to church on Sunday!! Hmmm, I wonder why....hahahaha I sorta think its funny that A LOT of people here say, "Yeah I'm Christian." Then we ask what church they go to, and they respond, "Oh, I dont go to church, just for Easter, Christmas, funerals and christenings." hahahahaha Now to me thats kinda hypocritical...its sad though because thats how the majority of people here are nowadays. Its okay though, at least they have some experience with religion. Or wait, this is my favorite conversation with someone; "Hey mate, me and my friend are talking about Jesus Christ with everyone today!" They respond, "I'm Catholic." So we say, "Good! Then you havea belief in God." They say, "No." hahahahahaha Ohhhhh some people.
Sorry that was kinda random. Just some funny things that happen way too much. Please dont think I'm condenming(sp?) the British people :)

So pretty much I love my mission. I love the people here and I love Wolverhampton! This past week was wayy fun, even though we didnt have a s much success as we had hoped for. One really brilliant experience we had these week strengthened my testimony of offering service. So as we were riding to St. Annes Rd. to do some tracting, Elder Clarke-Wills noticed some guy washing the windows on a house. He stopped and asked the guy if he needed any help, and he said yes! We found out that this man was actually helping out some friends who cant do outside chores because of age. We were able to help him by washing the couples cars. The elderly couple whom we were helping were called Joe and Babs. They are both Jamaican, but have lived in England for a while now. Despite that fact, they still had these really strong Jamaican accents that were sooo cool. I could hardly understand them haha I had to really focus and listen to understand what they were saying. So cool. I loved it. So we washed their cars and talked to all three of these Jamaicans and just had a great time! Afterwards, we offered them our phone number and told them to call us if we could help them with anything else. Elder Clarke-Wills then mentioned how he used to decorate and stuff so we could help with that kind of stuff as well. Babs started saying some stuff and invited us to come inside. She then showed us her living room and told us how she needs to redecorate everything. We told her we could help her as long as she cooks us dinner! hahaha She was like oh yeah yeah yeah of course of course. Them she started to last all the West Indie food she could cook us. Mhmmm. My companion was really happy to hear that because he loves west indie food and has it all the time because his dad is from Trinidad and Tobago. Right before we left Joe and Babs, we gave them a Book of Mormon and invited them to read some. To our surprise they have had contact with the church before and already have a Book of Mormon! So that was really cool. They did accept us sharing a message with them about the Gospel next time we come around. Sooooo, long story short, you can share the gospel through serving your fellow men. Through your kindness, people will be more receptive to wanting to know about your morals which can lead to telling them about the gospel.

Nothing too much else happened this past week. We have like so many people who are just soooo close to receiving a baptismal date. Sometimes I just dont know what to do for these individuals. But Ive come to realise that it comes down to their comittment to follow the Saviour or not. They have to make the choice for themselves, they have to take that leap of faith. They have to put their trust in the Lord and listen to what their heart is telling them; what the Holy Ghost is telling them. I have grown to love the laws of the gospel; they are pretty simple but deep. One of these laws, or principles, is agency. I love the scripture in 2 Nephi 2:27. We have the freedom to choose liberty and eternal life, or captivity and death. It is up to us to make that decision for ourselves. No one can makes us. I encourage everyone this week to make the right choices that will help them progress as children of a loving Heavenly Father.

I love you all and hope that everyone sees the many blessings they receive so mercifully every day!

Tra for now then!

-Elder Jaquish
