half way through...

Hiya everyone!!

So I'm guessing that most of you have heard about the riots that have recently been in London and other surrounding cities. Well, the other night, things started to kick up here and it was mad. This one kid kicked in the front of this nice Jaguar and tried breaking into it. So I went over and talked to him, trying to get him to understand that it was wrong and made him realise how he would feel if it were his car. Amazingly enough, he stopped and started talking to me really deep like and his whole attitude changed. My companion came over and invited this kid to be baptised and he said yes!!! Crazy huh? hahahahah Yeah, that would be totally sick, if it really happened hahahahah yeah, just kidding. The riots never spread over here where we live; we are about 25 minutes from the city centre so we were pretty safe. The other Elders inside the city though said they saw a bunch of people all dressed up and walkin around with bandannas on and their hoods up. The riots were even more intense in Birmingham though. We actually had to go in early on Tuesday just in case things kicked up. The whole thing was just silly. People just wanted to loot shops and cause a ruckus.

This past week was pretty good. We have been working hard and it has paid off a little. We got 2 new investigators. They are in the beginning process of being taught so we don't really know where things are gonna go just yet. We just need to work even harder now to find more prepared people to help and teach about the good news!! We made some good plans last night on how we are going to improve our diligence. The bulk of our plans and intentions come from Mosiah 28! Such a good chapter about the sons of Mosiah.

there is one specific experience that I want to share this week. Its about a returning member names Kerry and her husband Andrew, who isn't a member. Just real quick, Kerry just randomly showed up at church one Sunday about a month ago having the intentions of coming back to full activity and going to the temple! So she is solid. Okay, so we went with Kerry and Andrew to a baptism that the Elders in Nottingham 2 had on Saturday morning. It was a really good service and Andrew had a positive experience! Kerry also was reminded of her own baptism, so that was a win! Later that afternoon, we went to their house and did some service for them in their garden. After that, Kerry cooked us a lovely Chicken Alfredo for dinner! The whole time while we were over at their house, we were getting to know Andrew a bit more and were just joking around with him and having a blast! The conversation after dinner just perfectly opened up and we talked about the good and bad things that has happened in our lives and how we overcame any trials. Andrew freely talked about how he has had some pretty tragic events happen to him that has made him question whether there is a God or not. We just bore testimony on how God has had a helping hand to him in his life and that the things he's been through testify that God is real and that he loves us. It was powerful. Andrew accepted a Book of Mormon and an invitation to read Alma 36. I believe that things in his life will start to progress and he will want to take the lessons and attend church by the end of this month. It builds my testimony every time I meet someone who has had a tough life and how amongst every trial, you can see evidence of God existing.

My scripture for this week is simple, but powerful. Its one of my favourite to share with people who find it hard to believe in God because of science. Alma 30:44 is brilliant.

I am so very grateful to be a missionary and that I have the opportunity each day to share my testimony with many of my brothers and sisters! It brings so much happiness to my life! I know that the message of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ is true.
I hope everyone has a smashing week!

Much love,
-Elder Jaquish
